    Myxomycetes (Physarum) Physarum stellatum
    (CABI, 2017) Kryvomaz, Т. І.; Minter, D. W.; Michaud, A.
Diagnostic features. Aside from the unusual star-shaped dehiscence of the sporocarp, the presence of a pseudocolumella distinguishes P. stellatum from other similar species with a dense but reticulate capillitium (P. globiferum (Bull.) Pers., P. murinum Lister, P. perfectum M. Peck and P. scoticum Ing).

    Myxomycetes (Physarum) Physarum roseum
    (CABI, 2017) Kryvomaz, Т. І.; Minter, D. W.; Michaud, A.
Diagnostic features. Sometimes similar to Physarum pulcherrimum Berk. & Ravenel, but more reddish, and with translucent stalks which are free from lime.

    Myxomycetes (Physarum) Physarum plicatum
    (CABI, 2017) Kryvomaz, Т. І.; Minter, D. W.; Michaud, A.
Diagnostic features. Distinguished from Physarum lakhanpalii Nann.-Bremek. & Y. Yamam. which has spores aggregated in clusters; from P. hongkongense Chao H. Chung and P. bogoriense Racib. which both have three-layered peridia; from P. superbum Hagelst. and P. serpula Morgan which have rugose plasmodiocarps without longitudinal folds.

    Myxomycetes (Physarum) Physarum mutabile
    (CABI, 2017) Kryvomaz, Т. І.; Minter, D. W.; Michaud, A.
Diagnostic features. Stalked sporangia bear a superficial resemblance to some phases of Craterium aureum (Schumach.) Rostaf., but can be distinguished by the persistent capillitium which retains the sporangial shape after dehiscence and spore dispersal.
