Some globalization changes in vocational education in Ukraine at the beginning of the twentieth century

Abstract

The changes of civilizational significance taking place in the modern world combine great dynamism and universal character. Two extremely important trends influence the development of the state and society: the transition to scientific and information technologies and the globalization of social problems. According to V. Kremen, the transition to scientific and information technologies is focused on human development, which is an indicator of “the level of progress of each country” and the development of individuality, which “acquires the status of the main lever for further development of any country”, and globalization means that “competitiveness, competition, rivalry of nations, countries, states acquires a global, planetary character and literally covers all spheres of life”. In such conditions, E. Ivanchenko notes that “new types of activities appear that put people in front of the need to respond to the changes taking place, especially in a situation of uncertainty and risk”. Gradually, people are becoming more aware of their own value and uniqueness, their role in building society. The image of a modern person is associated with the image of a person who is able to “build his or her own life”. Therefore, the traditional content of VET does not meet the modern requirements of both employers and students who are studying at VET institutions. This approach to the training of future skilled workers has led to a contradiction between the needs of the individual, society and the VET system.
